What can a man do?
He can build images
and design structures
he can imagine them,
create them, and witness
their limitations.
A man can search;
he can scratch away
in joy and pain
at the itch of desire;
and to be concise,
he can believe this
to be love.
A man can extend
himself through his seed
into what to him is eternity;
a life passed on
to form another life…
another shot at hope.
He can dream to fill the void
left from his toiling;
and believe against himself
that this…
is his fulfillment.
A man’s life can be
a perfectly useless thing
without God’s Spirit
transforming all the bits into
a worthwhile adventure.
